Preparatory
Preparatory level is for young beginners
that are 6 to 8 years old with no or little previous musical
experience. Curriculum includes beginning Solfege / sight
singing, singing in intervals, rhythm and reading techniques,
and proper vowel placement.
Primary
Primary level choristers for ages
7 to 9, are mostly advanced from PREP level and are ready
for further development. Curriculum includes the next step
in theory, sight singing intervals, rhythm and reading techniques.
Emphasis on breathing, ear training, diction, focusing,
two part harmony and further performance skills.
Intermediate
Continues to master vocal and reading
skills, focusing on skills needed for advanced chorus. Curriculum
includes continuing to reinforce and teach theory and sight
singing. Emphasis on more complex vocal technique, musicianship,
and more development in 3 part harmony. Intermediate level
is for children 8 to 10 years old. They have the chance
to tour locally.
Advance
The Advanced level is for choristers
who are approximately 9 to12 years old and have mastered
the vocal skills and techniques of Preparatory, Primary
and Intermediate as well as pass the internal audition.
Challenging literature at a high level of proficiency is
studied. A certain amount of maturity of voice is required.
Curriculum includes advanced literature, 4 part harmony,
and continuing to emphasize in vocal development. They have
the chance to tour locally and nationally.
Concert Choir
a. Concert Group
Members are auditioned from skilled Advanced Level choristers
whose technique is at a high level. Singers continue to
refine skills that produce beauty, purity and consistency
of vocal quality. Concert Choir will be singing more advanced
and complex music with confidence. They have the opportunity
to participate in national and international music tours
that promote unity and friendship within the choir, further
refine and develop their music skills.
b. Youth Group
Consists of members ages 14 to 18, who have mastered vocal
skills presented in the Concert Choir level. Internal
audition is required to move from concert choir to youth
choir. Youth members study more challenging literature
at a high level of proficiency. Tours are scheduled for
the same time as the Concert Choir.
Music Program
Music Camps
1. Junior Camp
A three-days, two-nights or two-days, one-night music
camps are hosted for current members of all levels, except
Concert and Youth Choir, have the opportunity to attend.
Activities include choral rehearsals, games, swimming,
arts-and-crafts and campfire performances.
2. Advanced Camp
A mandatory five-days music camp is hosted for Concert
and Youth Choir members to attend. Members
learn music skills and repertoire for the coming year
in an environment rich with opportunities for friendship,
recreation and inspiration.
